The Tour de Suisse is the most important stage race and the biggest cycling tour in Switzerland. The Tour de Suisse is seen by professional riders as preparation for the Tour de France. To this end, the Tour de Suisse, which is held in eight stages, is one of the major tours alongside the “Tour de France”, “Giro d’Italia” and “Vuelta a España”.

The 6. Stage race over 177.5 kilometres from Locarno to Mossalp over the Nufenpass the highest point of the Tour with 2,478 metres.

The 7th stage of the elite men’s race of the Tour of Switzerland led over 196 kilometres from Ambri to Malbun (Liechtenstein). The Lukmanier Pass was again part of the national tour, as well as the ascent over the St. Luzisteig. The winner was Thibaut PINOT of Team Groupama – FDJ (France) after 5:06:39 hours, ahead of Óscar RODRÍGUEZ of the Movistar Team (Spain) and the Kazakh Alexey LUTSENKO of the Astana Qazaqstan Team.
